Gossamer Lacuna

This is my most recent painting Gossamer Lacuna. The name means a thin, translucent space or pause.   I have been working on it for a really long time. It deals with ethereal space and plays with shapes and spaces coming forward and going back and the dynamics of space. This particular painting was done on a door and has been a work in progress since 2010 and was painted specifically for a good friend of mine Tim Hinck, the style, color, line work and textures were chosen based on the person I was painting this for. He is going to be getting it this week so I thought I would also take time to share it with the world.
(the long photo at the top is the full painting and the four photos below are just close up shots of different segments of this piece.)

This is a log after it is burnt in the fire.

Wood Cuts

These are photographs I took of wood then exploited the natural color that was in the wood. These photos are about taking common wood cuts and bringing a new attention to their design elements and beauty.

Organs & the Churches they are in

These are Computer Renderings of Organs and the Churches they are in. These were created with a process of working with the negative and then creating dark lines of the negative on a light background, giving a look that plays with the eye a little bit.

Mildew Paper

These are photographs I took as studies in the series I am working on called "Beauty in the Breakdown" these are mildewing paper, but the shapes and colors that naturally occurred to me are beautiful. The series that I am working on is about trying to see the beauty in the breaking down or decomposing of things. Composition and decomposition are both very beautiful, it is just uncommon that we look for aesthetic value in what is dying, rotting, decomposing, mildewing, molding and rusting away.
