Zach McDonald Weddings

This video features some of the weddings that I have designed. It gives you a feel for the type of eclectic style I bring to the weddings. A lot of the elements are handmade and others are vintage things I collected to make that event unique and special.

Thanks so much to the Brides and Grooms for allowing me the chance to work with you to make your day special.

Spring Table

This is a photo shoot I just did today, inspired by the beautiful spring wild flowers (or weeds) and Iris that are growing in my back yard. The look was mixing the cold, dark and hard metals, in the grey tones with the bright, soft and delicate flowers. This look could be used for outdoor weddings with limited budget for flowers. For other wedding looks I have designed check out www.86things.com  and click the events tab.

Jimi Hendrix

I have this one little saying, when things get too heavy just call me helium, the lightest known gas to man.
-Jimi Hendrix

This one goes out to Alisha O. who asked me to do an illustration of Jimi Hendrix. So here it is, hope you and all the Hendrix fans out there like it. ha ha, a little different from the historical figures I was illustrating, but he was a fun little project. Let me know if you have a favorite figure from the past that you would like to see me illustrate, and coming soon these illustrations will be available for sale as limited edition prints.

Mother Teresa

My Sketch i did in the computer of Mother Teresa, who said the following...

"We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature - trees, flowers, grass- grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence... We need silence to be able to touch souls."

Mother Teresa

Sketch of Mark Twain

This is a computer sketch I did of Mark Twain who said...

"There is no such thing as a new idea. It is impossible. We simply take a lot of old ideas and put them into a sort of mental kaleidoscope. We give them a turn and they make new and curious combinations. We keep on turning and making new combinations indefinitely; but they are the same old pieces of colored glass that have been in use through all the ages."

Water on the Rocks

I am an abstract painter, as my main medium of choice, so the abstract forms and shapes I found through the camera lens became a strong interest. This waterscape photography was taken in the streams and rivers around different parts of Tennessee. The artwork captures the shapes and patterns that the naked eye cannot see. Every piece is unique and cannot be reproduced; as a fine artist, I strive to produce true artwork with my photography by capturing a moment in time and stopping it to observe the forms, colors and composition. This series portrays the beauty of a moment.for more information and to see more of this series go to:

Recent Artwork

This is some artwork that I have recently been working on. They are works that deal with etherial spaces and the tension between what is coming forward and what is going back in space. Also bringing in some of the shapes and colors in molds and mildews and decay, which are things I am addressing in my next big series called Beauty in the Breakdown. (see the post on mold for more work in this series).

Rooted Man

This shoot was based on the idea of humans being pulled from the soil like carrots or other rooted plants we pull from the earth. to achieve this look Zach McDonald used real roots, in the hair and painted the skin with a thick layer of charcoal powder and water to give that raw mineral look.

Harber Wedding

I had the honor of designing and decorating the wedding of Neil and Amelia Harber, who were married last year in Savannah, Georgia.  Their wedding was held in a small chapel outside the city and their reception took place at Vic's on the River

The wedding was featured in Georgia's Knot Magazine.
